Cookie policy
Last updated: 2 November 2026. This page complements the privacy policy. It is a translation: if anything differs, the Italian version prevails.
In short
- This site doesn’t use cookies: neither mine nor anyone else’s.
- Your browser only stores your preferences (theme, animations, recruiter mode) and your consent choice.
- Anonymous visit statistics only start if you accept them. You can change your mind at any time.
- No advertising, no profiling, no Google or Meta tools.
What cookies and local storage are
Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser, which the browser sends back to the site on every visit. Local storage (localStorage) is similar, but the data stays on your device and is never sent to the server. This site only uses the latter, and only for the items listed below. Italian law (art. 122 of the Privacy Code and the Italian Data Protection Authority guidelines of 10 June 2021) treats it the same way as cookies: technical items need no consent, everything else does.
Essential storage
These make the site work the way you asked. They need no consent and contain nothing that identifies you.
| Name | What it’s for | How long |
|---|---|---|
theme | Remembers whether you prefer the light or dark theme. If you choose “Match system”, nothing is saved. | Until you change it or clear the site’s data |
motion | Remembers whether you want animations on or off. | Until you change it or clear the site’s data |
mode | Remembers whether you turned on recruiter mode. | Until you turn it off |
consent | Records your choice about statistics and when you made it, so the banner doesn’t come back on every page. | 6 months, then you’re asked again |
umami.disabled | Only present if you decline statistics: it tells the Umami script not to count your visit. | Until you accept statistics |
Anonymous statistics (with your consent)
To understand how many people visit the site and which pages they read, I use Umami, open-source software running on my own server (stats.davialessio.dev). No third-party services are involved.
- It doesn’t use cookies and stores nothing in your browser.
- It doesn’t keep your IP address: it only uses it during the visit to work out the area you’re visiting from and to tell one visit from another, through an encrypted code that changes periodically and can’t be traced back to you.
- It collects, in aggregate form: the page visited, the referring site, country, region and approximate city, device type, operating system and browser, language and screen size.
- The data isn’t combined with other sources, isn’t used to profile you and isn’t shared with anyone.
The script is loaded only after you accept. If you decline, or withdraw your consent later, counting stops immediately.
External links and content
The LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook icons and the links to project websites are plain links: nothing from those services is loaded until you click. Once you’re there, their own policies apply.
How to change your choices
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time from “Preferences” in the footer of every page, or with the button above. You can also clear all the data this site has saved from your browser settings, in the section for site data.
